High elves are roughly human height, standing from 5'3" – 6'3" on average. Even exceptionally strong high elves appear rather slim in comparison with other races, looking athletic rather than muscular. Most high elves are fair-skinned, and have platinum blonde hair. This hair is often worn long and loose. High elven eyes are most commonly green and blue.
Their clothing is often simple and functional, but does not lack beauty and grace any more than other clothing, with complex and beautiful patterns woven into the cloth. The clothing, while otherwise non-fanciful, is often made of superior materials to those used in other clothes. Most high elves prefer clothing of natural colors such as green, but others wore garments of garish hues.
High elves are known to speak Fan-Eltharin, a dialect derived from the original Eltharin language used by their Wood Elven counterparts.
Being long lived, like other elves, they grow at a decelerating rate throughout their lives, living up to the age of 750 years. Very young high elves mature at a rate comparable with humans but during adolescence slow to a near stop until about 110 years of age, at which point high elves are considered mature. Elves remain vigorous and active until the middle of their third century.
Due to their longevity and strong ties to the Arcane, high elves have a rather detached view of the world. High elves as a whole have difficulty believing that events occurring over mere "years" affect things in any major way. They instead look at things from a much longer perspective, unconcerned with anything that had consequences that stretched over anything less than decades. However, in general high elves tend to have a Chaotic Good stance, so while some high elves were content to seclude themselves, not seeing many things as enough of a reason to act, when they did act it would be for a good cause. Stalking the lands as champions battling evils far out of the protective wards of their cities.
Relations with other races
High Elves in Orius mostly kept to themselves within the kingdom of Thylren Ennore, within vast elven structures that were highly protected and kept away from the prying eyes of other races. However, upon receiving word of the increasing threats of drow within the Emerald Reach, and the dangers the humans posed towards their wood elf kin, an army of Thylren Ennore moved to build a stronghold of their own near the mountains of Emerald Reach and took up a crucial defensive position within the Ayrewood. There they temporarily forsook their arrogance and haughty nature in order to aid the wood elves in removing all threats from the forest. However, when the immediate threat had passed, the arrogant nature of the high elves returned, and they claimed the right to elect one of their own as the Warden of Ayrewood, and with it to claim the leadership of the Fucien Alliance to the community of high elves that stayed behind to call it home.
Due to their long lifespan even if the humans have forgotten the cruelty of the war after the ceasefire was announced, high elves have not. To this day, they treat humans harshly if found within the Ayrewood, usually just short of outright attacking them, and never allowing them within their city. The high elves remember, and still see the humans as a clear and obvious threat to the generally more peaceful and benevolent people of the forest.
Magic and Religion
Unlike their wood elven kin, high elves see magic as one of the highest and most profound of arts, attempting to make it part of their everyday life whenever possible. It was not uncommon for even mundane tasks or tools to be done with skilled magic instead. This too expands into the art of warfare, which grants high elf groups or armies extremely high destructive potential.
In terms of their religion, Corellon, often referred to as the protector or the creator of all elves, is the god of arcana, life light and war and primary god of the high elves. They believe that Corellon is the creator and preserver of the natural world, governing things held in the highest esteem amongst the elves, such as magic, music, arts, crafts, poetry, and warfare. He approves of those who fight against orcs and followers of Lolth, blesses those who aid others, and is angered at those who defile the dead, or flee from their foes.
